Normally, I would consider myself a Plantser – a rough outline for each chapter of what I want to happen and knowing how the story is supposed to end before I start writing.
With this new series, I’ve definitely fallen into the Plotter category. Not only the story and chapter outline, but each chapter is laid out with key points, characters, actions, and even dialogue, ensuring the subplots, conflicts, and character setups for the other two books in the series are incorporated.
In fact, while laying out this first book, I think I’ve actually written a Skeleton draft of ~ 30,000 words!
Now the actual writing begins….
